Boolarrra is a lovely town on the edge of the Latrobe Valley, a nice quiet place for reflection and great facilities. Start the Grand Ridge Rail Trail here. There are plenty of things to do in Boolarra.

Rail trail

The Grand Ridge Trail is 13-kilometres through changing vistas from the remnants of temperate rainforest and farmland.

History

The old pub (20a Duke St, Boolarra) is a beautiful building still functioning as a pub. Open Thursday to Sunday, for lunches and early dinner (closes at 5pm/6pm). Give them a call to check if they’re open (03) 5169 6447

The Boolarra Pub established in 1985 is on the Monash Highway as you come into town from Morwell (Yinnar or Churchill). They have camping spaces there. Food and drinks. You can call them on (03) 5169 6420

The RSL building has artworks on it. Located on the corner of Church and Christian Street, Boolarra. The Boolarra RSL has an honour roll there and is heritage listed.

The Boolarrra Cemetery is located on Barktown Road.

There are some old Churches on Church Street.


Public artworks

In Centenary Park are public artworks on the back of the toilet block, from the revival work completed after the 2009 Black Saturday fires.

Parks

Centenary Park

A huge park with barbeque shelters, toilets, playground and the start of the Grand Ridge Trail. This park is on in the middle of two streets (Duke and Tarwin Streets) and off the street parking is accessed from Christian Street.

Remembrance Park

Barktown Road, Boolarra. A place for reflection and filled with lots of native plants.

Skate Park

The Boolarra Skate Park established in 2004 is opposite Centenary Park. It’s a concrete skate ramp, with a rail and lots of space under some tall gumtrees. There is also a basketball hoop not far from the Skate park.

Boolarra Memorial Park

Is a sporting facility that has BBQ’s and can fit 2000 people it will require a permit to hire. You can get more details here. 5163 1212

It is off Hirsts St, and backs on the Little Morwell River.

Festivals

The Boolarra Folk Festival is a one-day live music and market with art, food, and craft.
