The area is filled with ghost stories, including some from Yallourn and the Haunted Hills. The history is what sets these ghost stories apart.
Ghosts were people once, it’s fascinating to learn about how they lived what they did.
Getting a glimpse into the lives of the regular people in these towns, while discovering the disconcerting ways people discovered them.
The Yallourn North Ghost Tour doesn’t require you to believe in ghosts.
Many people enjoy the tour for many different reasons.
People are encouraged to take photos on the tour, some people have caught orbs in these photos, others have experienced technological failures, like their lanterns stopping working in certain areas.
One person has walked into space where a presence was already. The photo taken at their request shows their face blurring, however, all other elements of the photo crystal clear.
The tour focuses on the past experiences, and the stories of the places we attend, tour participants may be so lucky to be visited by these spirits.
There are other places that aren’t accessible to the public that is also spoken about, and there are places too far to walk to, that you can see for yourself.
The tour starts with ghost stories from the Yallourn area, moves to the Brown Coal Mine (which is what Yallourn North was called up until the end of World War II) and finishes with a story that inspired the name of our business – the Haunted Hills.
This tour shares the evidence, the experiences and meaning of its name today – Herne’s Oak. Herne’s Oak township was also claimed by the mine and is no longer there, it went much more quietly than Yallourn.
This walking tour takes one and a half hours, attending five places that have been active before.
There is another that with a little patience could also have evidence of haunting.
The tour also tells about Lake Narracan, Haunted Hills Road, Princess Freeway, and Quarry Road where people have had experiences with the paranormal.
Yallourn North is a lot older than it looks.
We walk for about five-minute intervals between stories.
Join us for a guided walking tour back-in-time a chance to experience history, the paranormal and bizarre.
Be drawn back with tales from Yallourn, Brown Coal Mine and the evocatively named Haunted Hills.
