Copyright Notice

The definition of a Creative Commons License is all over the internet, should you need it, and explaining a Creative Commons License doesn’t mean anything to those who steal content. So instead here are some fair-play ways you might use my material elsewhere. For those who stray from the path outlined here, be warned the curse will enter your cursor as you copy and paste without attribution – there will be retribution.

The preferred option for written posts

Link it. Just something that lets people know you like what I do. Whether it’s in your blogroll or in a post, provide a link and you avoid the cursor curse. If you like, include a short excerpt that shows why you like what I wrote. Best of all is if you add to what I wrote – respond with your own thoughts on the topic. Expand the conversation. I like that. I might even respond in kind on my blog.

The slack option for written posts

Reprinting an entire post and linking back here. You can do this if you want, but honestly, I think this is slack. People should come here to read the entire post. Plus, it affects both our rankings in search engines as they prefer original content.

The Illegal Option for written posts

Taking entire posts (or significant portions of posts – technically plagiarism is considered more than 3 words) and providing no credit back here is how the curse activates. It will impose karmic justice on you. Seriously. The methods aren’t formulaic, so avoid it at all costs. This is straight up stealing. If you do this for your own commercial gain (i.e. on a site that is selling something even if it’s just advertising) then I myself will also act within the realms of the natural world to recoup my work.

The options for Images:

I’ve taken photos, and allowed some free under Creative Commons, as I like to give back also, you can find them on Flickr, check the copyright arrangements on the pictures.

Copyright prior to 1968 photos over 50 years old become copyright free images. I’ve attributed correctly so you can discover more about the image. These photos add to the histories I’ve compiled and written.

Link the pictures I created back to me, either through embedding or in the caption with a link, as you would with text. Downloading it and/or removing my identifying features and uploading without attribution is theft and the cursor curse will activate.

The Preferred Option for videos

By all means put the videos on other sites. Either copy the YouTube code to embed it or link to the YouTube URL or the blog post URL. And add whatever commentary you like.

The Illegal Option for videos

It is not fair-play to downloading my videos and/or trying to blank out any identifying marks. Curses be upon you.

Rights I most certainly do not grant

NOBODY has the right to re-publish any of my material in any medium for commercial gain without my express written permission. e.g. You can’t release any of my videos on a DVD. You can’t republish my posts in a newspaper, magazine or book.

READ CAREFULLY. By viewing any portion of this website you agree, on behalf of your employer, to release me from all obligations and waivers arising from any and all NON-NEGOTIATED agreements, licenses, terms-of-service, shrinkwrap, clickwrap, browsewrap, confidentiality, non-disclosure, non-compete and acceptable use policies (”BOGUS AGREEMENTS”) that I have entered into with your employer, its partners, licensors, agents and assigns, in perpetuity, without prejudice to my ongoing rights and privileges. You further represent that you have the authority to release me from any BOGUS AGREEMENTS on behalf of your employer. (Thanks to reasonableagreement.org)
